Stunning Lotus Cars & Girls @ 32nd Bangkok Motor Show 2011 in HD (Hi Def...

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com http://www.lotuscars.com I had to come and visit the Lotus booth to see the Cars which are beautiful but beasts as well. Like the Robb Reports Car of the Year 2011 the 'Evora' this little rear wheel drive Rocket packs a Mid-Engine 3.5 liter V-6, Transmission is a 6-speed manual, Power output is 276 hp at 6,400 rpm Torque 258 ft lbs at 4,700 rpm, Curb weight 3,047 pounds, Zero to 60 4.9 seconds and a Top speed of 162 mph . Quote-"Conversely, drivers who find the Porsche 911 a bit soft around the edges will delight in the Evora's razor-sharp handling and work-for-your-reward engine that delivers its best performance when pushed. A welcome addition to the Lotus lineup, the Evora is a must-drive for real gearheads." —Robert Ross Click to see review http://robbreport.com/Automobiles/Car-of-the-Year-2011-No-14-Lotus-Evora. Also the presenter Piyawan is not only stunning but a very good at her job presenting the cars. I thought after I filmed the first show that I should do one in High Definition to really show off the Cars along with her beauty and presenting skills, enjoy! Best $1 Pork Won Ton Noodle Soup Stall down Soi Rumbia off Rama 4 and So...

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com I apologize for the low res video I hit the wrong button, down Soi Rumbia a nice husband and wife team cook up a great bowl of pork won ton noodle soup for $1 or any price. The broth is light and flavourful and the BBQ pork is done perfect. This street and the Soi off the left have many eating stalls as there are office buildings around so lunch gets busy.

Soi Cowboy meet friends to see Spurs Football Game and Win Tiger Beer Ts...

http://www.PhilinBagnkok.com Unfortunately the game was nil - nil but I won a tshirt for drinking Tiger beer LOL

Soi Cowboy is a red-light district in Bangkok, Thailand. A short street with some 40 bars, it is similar to Nana Plaza and Patpong and caters mainly to tourists and expatriates.
It is located near Sukhumvit Road, between Sukhumvit Soi 21 (also called Soi Asoke) and Soi 23, within walking distance from the BTS Skytrain's "Asok Station" and the Bangkok MRT "Sukhumvit Station". The Grand Millennium Hotel is nearby.
The go go bars follow the pattern common in Thailand: alcoholic drinks are served and women in bikinis dance on a stage. Topless or even nude dancing occasionally occurs in some bars, but remains technically illegal. Most of the dancers are also prostitutes and will join a customer if he pays a "bar fine" to the bar and a separate fee to the woman. Sexual services usually take place in the tourist's hotel room.
The area is named after T. G. "Cowboy" Edwards, a retired American airman who opened one of the first bars there in 1977. A tall African-American, Edwards got his nickname because he invariably wore a cowboy hat.

Soi Cowboy during the day, with Fanny's, Dollhouse and Midnite Bar visible on the leftOne staple of the Soi Cowboy nightlife are elephants frequently marched up and down the street by their handlers who are in the business of selling elephant food to tourists.
When Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was elected in 2001, his government instituted a "social order" campaign. As part of this campaign, all bars and nightclubs had to close by 2 am, later changed to 1 am for all areas not officially designated as "entertainment zones". (Unlike Patpong, Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza were not so designated). A mandatory midnight closing time was even discussed. As of 2006, the Soi Cowboy bars switch off their outside neon lights by 1 am and usually close at 2 am.Soi Cowboy's reputation suffered a temporary blow when, as part of the same social order campaign, the area was closed off by police one Friday night in November 2003 and all workers and patrons were required to submit to urine testing for drugs.

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com In Siam Square by Siam BTS station down Soi 4 is Doo Dee Siam Restaurant which has Thai and Vietnamese food. There is a very large selection of food to choose from and judging by the the people going there and other reviews was going to be good. The Vietnamese dish we had was great I have has it before at another restaurant, it was very fresh and tasty. One thing is you have to write down on the pad of paper what you want so get a waiter to help you as it has to be in Thai.

Talam Nam Seafood in Alley off Silom Road across from O'Reillys Pub - Phil in Bangkok

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com Through Facebook I met a friend of friend from Hong Kong, on his flight to Bangkok he met a girl from Vietnam and her friends from Ireland and Latvia, which they reunited through Facebook. We met a O'Reilly's Pub and then went across the street to an alley where this gem Talam Nam Seafood is located. The food was great tasty and some spicy, a little too much for our Irish friend but after the initial burn he dug in full on. Facebook is a great way to connect to people and keep up on friends, I wish more of my friends were on it and surprised at some of my friends who I never thought would use it are addicts now LOL After dinner we go to Phat Phong Night Bazaar to look around, photos on Facebookhttp://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=24830&id=100001776691222&l=5831... also check out my other videos on Phat Phong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxQ3e8rNUx4

March 15th 2011 430am Big Thunder Lightning Heavy Rain Storm - Phil in ...

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com I was actually awakened by lighting flashes at about 330am but this raging storm over my apartment would have shook everyone in the building out of bed. I don't think these couple of storms are normal in Bangkok this time of the year, at least from what I remember from last year it was sunny and hot. Oh well there goes a nights rest as I went to bed at 2am in hopes of waking up at 845am to watch my Vancouver Canucks hockey team play, now do I try to go back to bed or just stay up till the game starts, either way GO CANUCKS GO!!! ps- they are #1 in the league overall and just finished a 5-0 sweep road trip they play Minnesota Wild who need a win as not in the playoff picture yet, one month to go before the Playoffs!http://www.Canucks.com

Somphong Thai Cooking School with Khun Koy Silom Area Part 1 - Phil in B...

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com http://www.originalthaicookingschool.com
Since I eat so much great Thai food it is only fitting I should learn how to cook some. My brother and I go to Somphong Cooking School in the Silom area to learn from Khun Koy. I have to say it was the best 4hrs spent as we learned about Thai ingredients, cooking techniques and best of all EATING what we made, very tasty. She has two classes a day and we called last minute for the afternoon one, each day has a different cooking menu and on this day we were cooking two of my favorites Red Curry Chicken and Spicy Coconut Chicken both very delicious. We met her at Chong Nosi BTS and we took a taxi to the market to get some ingredients then walked to her school. She only charges 1000baht for the 4hrs and 5 dishes which is very inexpensive. I highly recommend taking the course while here as she gives you a recipe book to take with you so when you get home you can impress your friends with a great Thai meal.

Please note I am cooking with one hand as the camera in other ; )

Why I Wear a Vancouver Canucks Hockey Cap - Phil in Bangkok

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com http://www.Canucks.com Quite a few viewers from around the world have asked me about my ball cap I wear. As you may notice I am from Canada, born and bred so Hockey is in our blood and stick in our hand when we arrive in the BEST Country in the world, rated #1 year after year. Which brings up another question people ask "If your country is so great why aren't you there?" A couple of things firstly as much as I love Thailand and other Countries I have visited or lived in, my heart is will always be for Canada. The one reason why I chose to live abroad is 9 months out of the year as much as I love my country the dark(shorten daylight) grey rainy weather plays havoc with my S.A.D Seasonal affective Disorder http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder which makes me sad. Seriously though it really kills me and being a solar boy need my sun and light (people in the nothern hemisphere's understand) to give me energy and life. Another reason is I love to Travel and be an ambassador of sort to my country while travelling as so many positive feed back from people I meet but so many misconceptions as well. One thing especially in Asia when I say "I'm from Canada or I'm Canadian" is I get the " but you Asian?" way too often. Even in this day and age many people think Canada is all white (maybe all the snow helps) Asian people in the US don't get this so much for some reason. So here my identity is lost among the crowd in Thailand people think I'm Thai, in Singapore I'm Singaporean....so on. Ride with me on the Skytrain or Bus in any Asian city and just watch when I answer the phone and start talking, everyone stops stares and looks at me. I guess its the same if you saw a Indian guy with an Irish accent or an African guy with a Russian accent. People don't really understand that your accent of your voice is your identity. Canada's colours may be Red (Natives) and White (Colonizers) but really it has been always multicoloured. My name may be "Phil in Bangkok" but "I am Canadian!"

If you are not on Facebook you are missing out connecting with people - ...

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com I come back from meeting 5 new people, one from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Ireland, Latvia and Thailand all thanks to Facebook. Everyone there connects to each other through this social network site and now I will be added to their friends list. I have many friends who are on Facebook enjoying the new connections and renewing old ones but many are still not for certain reasons. I find it great I can see pictures of my friends and their kids, scan my page to see updates on what people are doing. Announcements of new additions to the family and unfortunately news of people passing. I cannot conceivably talk to all my friends in a given day bit these bits and bytes of text and media makes our connections better. People give lame excuses, no time, too busy yada yada yada....if you shut off your TV and quit playing Angry Birds or Bejeweled , take 10mins to connect to your fellow human beings your life will be more enlightened. Cheers
