How to Get a Free Meal and Learn Mobile Phone Etiquette

I usually take a very hard line against mobile phone devices while dining out, but this new unique technique just jumps out and gives people inspiration for the future.
I call it a Mobile Stack, and it’s a blunt reminder of every phone-etiquette concept the world seems to have overlooked.
It starts like this as you sit down,  tell each person to place their Mobile facedown in the center of the table. As the meal goes on, you are going to notice various text messages, status updates and email messages arriving… and you are going to do absolutely zip. You’ll cope with temptation—maybe even a few unconscious reaches to toward the center of the table—but you are going to be limited by the single, all-important concept of the Mobile Stack.

Whoever grabs their Mobile first gets to treat the others to the meal.

It’s a amazing experiment of social etiquette pressure, disguised as a game. It places your Mobile out of the pocket—where you can take a peek and hope nobody notices—and puts it in the center of focus at all times. Now grabbing your mobile is the big deal you always privately realized it was. And furthermore, it comes with repercussions.
But if, after the third buzz or rings, you decide your contact is more essential than footing the tab, we’re sure your buddies won't stop you.
