Bangkok Bitter On Thonglor

Bangkok Bitter On Thonglor

Samuel Castro for "What in Dining"

Opened recently and already getting plenty of critique is Bangkok Bitter, on Thonglor.  This snazzy little eatery has made a name for itself with their Black Pizza—composed of whole-wheat dough colored with natural squid ink.  It’s not the prettiest pie on the block, but it tastes right.

Other dishes to look for?  Spaghetti Seafood and White Wine, Foie Gras with Caramelized Apple, and BBQ Pork Ribs.  Prices are competitive with THB 150 – 250++ for appetizers and mains going for approximately THB 350++.

We like Bangkok Bitter.  It’s good for more casual second-dates, and small groups for friends who like to share food.  The only downfall really is the location.  If it weren’t in a mall, we’d hit it up more often.

Find Bangkok Bitter by going down Thonglor Rd, from Sukhumvit.  It’ll be on your left, on the 2nd floor of 88-mini mall at Thonglor Soi 5.

‎"Getting as much as I can from my journey, because the journey is all I have"

Oskar On Soi 11

Samuel Castro for "Where in Dining"

Right next to Bed Supperclub, Oskar is the definitive late-night bistro, weather you’re feeling puckish or ravenous. What to order? Try the Oskar Salad, with Duck Leg Braised in Red Wine, Ham, Plum, Truffles, and Egg (THB 230++) or one of the wood oven pizzas, we recommend the Casablanca at (THB 325++) with minced Lamb Chop, Merguez Harrissa, Goat Cheese, and Moroccan Spices. There’s also a smattering of Asian recipes including Yam Woonsen, Veggie Springroll Maki, and Chicken Tom Kha. Just don’t forget to try the cocktails. There’s a large selection of martinis, long drinks, and Mojitos with the Chocolate Martini and Golden Thai standing out as unique orders. [more information]

Park Hyatt to debut in Bangkok

Park Hyatt to debut in Bangkok

Hyatt is to open its first property under the Park Hyatt brand in Thailand, located in Bangkok’s central business district.
The 222-room Park Hyatt Bangkok will be housed within a mixed-use building featuring a “spectacular ‘twisted coil’ exterior”, with facilities including 49 suites, all-day dining and speciality restaurants, a sky bar and restaurant, 1,440sqm of meeting space, a business centre, spa, swimming pool and fitness centre.
The hotel will form part of the Central Embassy complex, the name having been inspired by the former British Embassy which stood on the site at the junction of Wireless Road and Ploenchit Road.
The building will feature 150 stores, including an “ultra premium cinema complex”, retail outlets, restaurants and a spa.
Park Hyatt Bangkok will join the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok (located on Rajdamri Road in the city's Ratchaprasong district), as the second Hyatt-branded property in the Thai capital.

Nokia Lumia 800 vs iPhone 4: Design (video) By Dave Cryer

Back in the day I used to love Nokia phones, mainly for their superior hardware but never for the operating system. When the likes of the iPhone came onto the scene, my relationship with Nokia went a little sour – using Symbian became very stale indeed. History seemed to be repeating itself more recently with the iPhone and iOS. The elegance of iOS is nice, but lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve spent too many years looking at the same grid of icons.
Nokia has rekindled my interest in their hardware with the Lumia 800. Windows Phone 7.5 still feels like a work in progress, but it is a refreshing change. The hardware is a different matter altogether, what with its sleek lines, curved glass and solid build quality. Check out the video above to see Lumia’s sexiness for yourself, as well as a comparison with the iPhone 4.

Sapporo Ramen Bishamon Sushi Restaurant at 42 Tee Off Sukhumvit - Phil i...

http://www.PhilinBangkok.com http://www.PhilinVancouver.comhttp://www.IMInfoBlog.com http://www.WhyWindowsPhone.com
I go to Sapporo Ramen Bishamon Sushi Restaurant beside 42 Tee Off the Golf Driving Range on Sukhumvit between Soi 42 and 42/1 across from the Life Condominium for dinner.
I have been once before and was impressed by the quality of the food and service. This time for my 2nd Anniversary in Bangkok I was missing Tokyo and Japan (was there before the earthquakes) so decided to go for Japanese food over Thai.
Like last time the Yakatori sticks (170bht $5.66) were amazing grilled perfectly and so so tasty, you got to love anything wrapped in bacon and grilled LOL but seriously you have top try them. The sushi combo (300bht $10) was the same, very fresh and tasty the 8 pieces are enough to fill you up. The Agedashi tofu (60bht $2) was fried perfectly and the hot radish was a nice touch and kick, the miso soup (I did not order maybe they heard it was my Anniversary?;) was very nice, it was a thicker soup than one usually gets but packed with flavor and very tasty.
Check this place out and after or before you can hit some balls at the driving range (only one in the city center) for a couple of dollars a bucket.

Sulamani "Small Ruby" Temple Bagan Myanmar Burma - Phil in Bangkok

http://www.WhyWindowsPhone.com http://www.PhilinVancouver.comhttp://www.PhilinBangkok.comhttp://www.IMInfoBlog.com
Sulamani Temple, known as Small Ruby Temple stands beyond Dhammayangyi Temple, built by King Narapatisithu (1174-1211). The temple features two storeys standing on broad terraces assembled to create a pyramid effect. On the ground floor, a vaulted corridor runs around the central pile of solid brickworks. Buddha images are seated there facing each of the cardinal points. The inner walls were once decorated with paintings but except for a few patches of ink painting, no trace of great artistic value remains after years of abandonment. The brickwork throughout is considered some of the best in Bagan
